Residents of Jemesi Papa Street in Egan, Lagos, are demanding justice after the tragic death of 10-year-old Faith, who allegedly died following weeks of abuse and neglect in the home of her guardians, Paul Onyeama and his wife, Adline. Neighbours said the child, brought from Ebonyi State about six months ago, was frequently beaten, forced to carry heavy loads, denied schooling, and made to run errands despite being ill for nearly two weeks.
Suspicion grew when unusual visitors arrived at the couple’s apartment late Sunday. The following morning, neighbours discovered Faith’s lifeless body wrapped inside a room, where it had reportedly been kept overnight. Residents alleged the couple had attempted to secretly move the corpse before the incident was exposed, sparking outrage throughout the community.
Police from the Igando Division arrested the couple and transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, for further investigation. As residents mourn the young girl, they continue to demand justice for a child whose life was cut short under horrifying circumstances.
