The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased the gantry price of petrol and diesel, adding fresh pressure on consumers and businesses across Nigeria. Petrol rose by N75 to N1,275 per litre, while diesel jumped by N200 to N1,950, reflecting a sharp rise from last month’s prices.
An official at the refinery said the adjustment was driven by global market conditions, including rising crude oil prices linked to tensions in the Middle East. The changes highlight Nigeria’s continued exposure to international oil benchmarks despite growing local refining capacity.
The latest hike is expected to push pump prices higher nationwide, as marketers pass on the cost to consumers. With energy and transport costs already high, the increase could further fuel inflation and deepen economic strain.
