police arrested a 30-year-old teacher, Nathaniel Baiyegun, for allegedly kidnapping and killing a 16-year-old WASSCE candidate identified as Florence, said to be his former student.
Investigators said the teenager was allegedly lured under the guise of attending a coaching class before being held in an uncompleted building while ransom was demanded from her family.
In a chilling confession, the suspect admitted collecting N500,000 from the victim’s father and spending most of it on online sports betting, despite already knowing the teenager was dead. Police said her body was later dumped in a river in Ogijo after she allegedly overdosed on sleeping tablets.
