The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has condemned the killing of innocent residents during a Palm Sunday attack in Jos, calling it a grim sign of Nigeria’s worsening security crisis. In a statement by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the March 29 assault in Jos North, Plateau State, was described as a day that turned from peace to bloodshed, with gunmen reportedly disguised in security uniforms killing defenceless civilians.
CAN said the attack left families shattered and exposed deep failures in protecting citizens, even during sacred moments. The association questioned the continued wave of violence and warned that Nigerians are tired of repeated killings without real consequences.
It demanded the swift arrest and prosecution of those responsible, urging security agencies to act decisively and restore public trust. CAN also called for stronger, lasting security measures, stressing that the nation owes victims justice and must end the cycle of violence.
