A survivor of the November 18 attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Kwara State, has recounted the harrowing conditions he and other worshippers faced while in captivity. He was among the 38 victims rescued by security operatives, a development confirmed by President Bola Tinubu on Sunday.
In an interview with TVC, the victim said the attackers stormed the church shortly after evening service began, firing shots before forcing the congregation into the bush. “It was sudden and terrifying. At first, I didn’t even realize they were gunshots,” he said, adding that worshippers saw blood on the floor as the attackers surrounded the building.
The captives were taken deep into a forested area controlled by the group. The survivor said the abductors openly identified themselves as bandits and boasted of their dominance, claiming “no one can slip away” from their territory. “They knew all the routes and had full control of the surrounding areas,” he said.
