A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Convener of The Alternative, a pan-Nigerian movement, Otunba Segun Showunmi, has called Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, weak and incompetent following a communiqué issued by the party’s Governors’ Forum.
Showunmi lamented that while the Bauchi state governor and chairman of the Forum could not defend himself with performance, he resorted to press releases padded with adjectives.
The PDP chieftain stated this in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta on Friday.
Showunmi also dismissed the forum’s statement as “a string of insults without a single accomplishment to justify the outrage,” adding that “where capacity is missing, noise becomes strategy.”
The PDP chieftain questioned Bala Mohammed’s track record, saying, “Nigerians are tired of leaders who respond to every criticism with emotional press statements instead of governance.”
He said, “If the PDP Governors’ Forum thought its long, angry sermon would intimidate anyone, it only succeeded in exposing the obvious: Bala Mohammed cannot defend himself with performance, so he resorts to press releases padded with adjectives.
“Imagine a man so insecure in his own leadership that he needs an entire Governors’ Forum to bark on his behalf. Real leaders use results to answer critics. Bala Mohammed uses committees and communiqués.
“The Forum spent paragraphs throwing insults but could not point to a single accomplishment to justify the over-the-top outrage. That alone tells the story. Where capacity is missing, noise becomes strategy.
“Bala Mohammed’s Track Record Speaks Louder Than Any TV Interview
And unfortunately for him, the track record is thin. Very thin. Nigerians are tired of leaders who respond to every criticism with emotional press statements instead of governance.”
Showunmi argued that Bala had struggled to demonstrate solid leadership at the state level, and as chairman of the Forum, maintaining that while the statement issued did not defend him, it only confirms why criticism of his leadership kept growing.
He stressed that strong leaders do not flinch but fix and urged the governor to get busy with his job, saying “stop disgracing yourself with incompetence in human form.”
“Strong leaders don’t flinch; they fix. The results are clear for all to see. You cannot manage a team of just 5 gentlemen. Shame on you. Relax Bala you will give an account for the resources of Bauchi State. All the hoof and puff will not save you.
“Get busy with your job and stop disgracing yourself with incompetence in human form” he added.
