A Lagos-based content creator and thrift vendor, popularly known as Fems Thrift, has alleged that she and a friend were raped after being lured to a fake modelling shoot in the Ajao Estate area of the state. In a video shared on TikTok, she said a man who claimed to have relocated from the United Kingdom contacted her on Instagram with an offer of ₦140,000 to model for what he described as an international fashion brand launching in Nigeria.
According to her, she arrived at the apartment on February 8 with a friend for safety but found the space largely empty. She alleged that the suspect asked her to shower and change into a robe before later locking the door, brandishing a knife and tying both women’s hands. She claimed they were sexually assaulted multiple times and threatened with harm if they resisted.
The content creator further alleged that the suspect seized their phones, transferred private photos and videos to himself, and threatened to release the materials online if they reported the incident. The video has since sparked outrage on social media, while the Lagos State Police said efforts were underway to reach her as no formal complaint had been filed. The incident has intensified concerns over the dangers of unverified online job offers targeting young women.
