Police in Ogun State have arrested a 28-year-old man, Victor Cletus, for allegedly posing as a medical doctor to defraud and sexually assault a young woman.

Cletus, who worked as a cleaner at Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilishan-Remo, reportedly impersonated a surgeon and contacted the victim via Snapchat. Believing he was a real doctor, the woman sought his advice about a lump in her breast.

According to the police, the suspect demanded money for a fake surgical procedure and instructed her to meet him for the supposed operation. Instead of providing medical assistance, he sexually assaulted her, stole funds from her Opay account, and continued pressuring her for sexual activities.

Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the arrest, adding that the suspect is under investigation and will be charged.

Odutola urged the public—especially young women—to be cautious when interacting with strangers on social media, warning that many criminals hide behind false identities.

Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo condemned the incident, stressing that the Command will not tolerate exploitation, impersonation, or any form of violence against women.
